The Powder Horn Wastewater Treatment Plant serves "The Powder Horn" an up-scale golf community in northern Wyoming. The treated effluent is pumped to a holding pond for eventual use as irrigation water for the golf course. The Powder Horn is an example of the effectiveness of a well thought out operations plan.

The Powder Horn wastewater treatment plant is another example of a multi-phase facility. Phase 1 was constructed with a treatment capacity of 9,400 gpd. As the community grew, Santec was brought back 3 years later to construct the second phase which, increased the treatment capacity to 49,520 gpd. Since the construction of phase 2, the original phase 1 treatment train was not used. Seeing an opportunity to improve operational flexibility and utilize existing equipment, Santec retrofitted the phase 1 treatment train as additional sludge treatment and storage capacity. The additional sludge capacity allow the operator greater flexibility for wasting sludge however, if required, the phase 1 treatment train may be returned to use as it was originally designed.
